Resource for Pachyderm Clubs

The Foundation is a very useful tool for local Pachyderm Clubs, the Pachyderm Federation and individuals. We provide an avenue that allows individuals to contribute to a scholarship fund on an income tax deductible basis. A receipt is provided for all contributions received.  An individual contributor or club contribution can be designated to a specific club contribution. Depending on the amount of available cash, the Foundation may match up to $250 for a club scholarship.

Sponsoring a scholarship provides a vehicle for getting some publicity for the local Pachyderm club. Frequently a news article can be built around the local recipient(s) which gains attention for both the club and the recipient. The recipient(s) is usually asked to come to a club meeting to discuss their experience at the sponsored event. The recipient’s attendance at a meeting helps generate interest toward future contributions and may provide another PR opportunity.

The Randolph County Area Pachyderm Club has been the most successful at awarding scholarships on a perpetual basis. In 2008 they sponsored four individuals to Boys/Girls State, in 2009 they sponsored five individuals to Boys/girls State, in 2010 four individuals and in 2011 they sponsored 3. They raised their funds through club activities, many individual contributions and a Foundation contribution. For 2009 the Platte County Pachyderm Club awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a college student and they plan to make another award in 2011.

Annually, The Foundation plans to award one Boys and one Girls State scholarship. Clubs may submit one application and the Foundation will make the selection. In addition The Foundation will annually budget matching funds which will be available on a first come basis.
